brief history
The need for a Community Centre was recognised by the Commission for New Towns (now English Partnerships) and funds were allocated for the purpose.
- July 1998 - The Cottam Community Association was formed.
- October 1998 - A public meeting was held in the school in October 1998 to assess the demand for a centre.
- March 1999 - The committe drew up its constitution, which was approved at a public meeting.
- May 1999 - The constitution was accepted by the Charity Commission and we became a registered charity.
- July 1999 - A house to house collection was held during July 1999 to raise funds and form a membership database.
- 22nd November 1999 - Building work on the centre commenced.
- A turf cutting ceremony was carried out by Teuvo Moilanen, goalkeeper for Preston North End Football Club. He was ably assisted by Deepdale Duck
- 19th May 2000 - The centre was handed over to the committee.
- June 2000 - The centre was used by its first hirer.
